Brock Bowers would love to team up with Aaron Rodgers

One of the most talented offensive players in the 2024 NFL Draft gave his thoughts about playing for the New York Jets.

Speaking at the NFL Combine, former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers said he would enjoy playing in the Jets’ offense alongside Aaron Rodgers.

“It would be pretty sweet; he’s one of the best of all time to do it at quarterback. It would be cool to learn under him, play with him, and hopefully learn some stuff.”

Additionally, the versatile prospect said in an interview with NBC Sports’ Connor Rogers that he would love to catch passes from Patrick Mahomes and the Jets’ Aaron Rodgers. Bowers reiterated in the interview that Rodgers is one of the best to play quarterback in the NFL and would love to learn from him.

Currently, the Jets seemed likely to select an offensive lineman with the 10th overall pick. After releasing Laken Tomlinson, they have three openings on their starting unit, with Joe Tippmann and Alijah Vera-Tucker being the only returning players.

If the team can fix the majority of the unit in free agency, though, the option of taking Bowers should be on the table.

As a tight end, Bowers has enough skill to contribute as a blocker in both the running and passing games. He could help the team’s offensive tackles in chipping situations, mitigating one-on-one situations while holding his own with different run-game concepts.

More importantly, Bowers would help to solve the lack of weapons on the Jets’ offense.

The former national champion can line up as both a tight end and a big slot in the passing game, allowing him to be a matchup nightmare for defenses to gameplan. Bowers is also a threat with the ball in his hands, having over 1,400 yards after the catch in his college career and even receiving some jet sweeps while at Georgia.

Bowers is not a perfect prospect, and the odds favor the Jets bolstering the trenches with their first-round selection. But if the cards break right for New York this offseason, Bowers is a player who needs to be on the team’s radar, as he would help to improve multiple areas of the team’s offense.
