49ers healthy and confident headed into Dallas

Heading into the biggest game of season, the 49ers are as healthy as they have been all year.

San Francisco has only four players listed on the injury report as they get ready to travel to Dallas for their playoff opener.

The players listed as questionable include punter Mitch Wishnowsky (concussion), safety Talanoa Hufanga (groin), and linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and Marcell Harris (Achilles). Al-Shaair did not participate in Friday’s short practice while Hufanga and Harris were limited participants.

Among the players not listed are left tackle Trent Williams, nickelback K’Waun Williams and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Williams returned to practice on Thursday after missing last week’s season finale against the Los Angeles Rams due to an elbow sprain. The veteran left tackle was named first team All-Pro for the first time in his career on Friday.

With the 49ers set to take on one of the top passing offenses in the NFL, the return of K’Waun Williams to the lineup could not come at a better time. Williams missed last week’s game because he did not feel well. He had missed practice throughout the week while on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Garoppolo has practiced in full throughout the week and is set to make his second straight start since missing the 49ers week 17 game against Houston, due a torn ligament in his right thumb suffered on Dec. 23 at Tennessee.

The only injury listed on the Cowboys injury report for Sunday is Keanu Neal. The linebacker has been ruled out due to elbow and check injuries which limited Neal on Wednesday before keeping out of practice on Thursday and Friday.

Neal is fourth among Cowboys defenders in tackles despite making only five starts in 14 games played this year.

Like the 49ers, Dallas will see their top left tackle return from injury. Tyron Smith returned to practice in full on Thursday.

Smith missed six game this season, five due to an ankle injury and one with COVID-19, but when he’s been on the field Smith has shown he is still one of the best left tackles in the NFL.

Kyle Shanahan on how the week went and the confidence level of his team going into Sunday’s game:

“I feel like most of the teams in the playoffs are pretty confident right now and we’re no different. I think we felt this way, really, we felt really all confident going into that Tennessee game. You could tell how we came out and we had a real tough loss and we knew how big the next game would be verse Houston. And I think we played real well and got ourselves out of that. And we took that confidence into L.A., just like it was a playoff game. We had a feeling the way everything else was going to go, that it was a playoff game. And I feel that just makes us even more battle tested for right now because it feels no different. We’ve kind of been in this mode for a few weeks now, if not half the season. And we’re used to it and the more we do it, the more we get confidence, the better we feel and the more we’re excited. And we just really want to get to the game.”
