The head coach had a couple of injuries to report following the 27-3 loss.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Tennessee Titans 27-3 on Sunday — and they left the game with some injuries of note. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided some updates following the game:

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes suffered a nasty hit to his head and neck area in the fourth quarter and had to be helped off the field.

“Pat was in the concussion protocol,” said Reid. “He cleared it, and then I decided not to put him back in.”

Backup Chad Henne took over quarterback duties for the rest of the game.

“I feel fine now,” said Mahomes. “It was fourth down, so I was kind of getting held up instead of going down to try to throw the ball, and obviously, you all saw the hit. I kind of took my time getting up. I felt fine, but you kind of have to go through those protocol things. I did everything I needed to do to be here right now.”

Mahomes said he had no issue remembering what transpired.

“I have full memory of the play,” he said. “It was just kind of — when you get hit pretty hard, sometimes you just want to lay there. Plus, it was fourth down, and I knew the game was at the end there. So it was a disappointing day and a disappointing way to end it.”

Defensive tackle Chris Jones

Reid said Jones, who had missed the previous two games due to a wrist issue, strained his groin.

Safety Tyrann Mathieu

Reid said Mathieu “hurt his ribs a little bit” — but it sounded like he would be OK.

Fullback Michael Burton (pectoral) and linebacker Anthony Hitchens (triceps) missed the game due to injury.
