We know who the number one quarterback is. We know who the number two quarterback is. The interesting part of the QB room is 1) Who is the third QB and who is fourth and 2) Will they keep three quarterbacks on the roster. We have an answer to the first right now.

On the team’s official depth chart released before the first preseason game, Davis Webb and not 2020 draft pick Jake Fromm was listed as the third QB. The former third-round pick of the New York Giants has been with the Bills on the practice squad since 2019.

Fromm was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and made the 53-man roster ahead of Webb a year ago when the team kept three QBs. Fromm spent the year isolated as the emergency COVID quarterback.

Webb is often referred to as a coach on the field and this profile from earlier this offseason details his approach to the week in that vein.

Pre-COVID, the Bills kept two quarterbacks on their roster and with Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky presumably vaccinated at this point, they will probably revert to that number once again. That would leave Fromm and Webb on the outside looking in.
