Who goes bold this week?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing the Patriots this week in New England. For quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski, you better believe this game means a lot to them. So do any of the Bucs Nation writers buy in to this storyline and center their bold predictions around it?

Check out which Bucs Nation staff writer makes the boldest claim for this week’s game below!

Bailey: Obviously, the big storyline this Sunday revolves around Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski returning to New England for the first time as members of the Buccaneers to square off with their old head coach Bill Belichick and his Patriots. This week’s bold prediction from me is quite a simple one, really. I’m going for another four-plus touchdown day from Brady, with at least three scores going to former Patriots, whether it’s Gronkowski or Antonio Brown.

James: All the talk the first three weeks is how vulnerable the Bucs’ pass defense has been. I mean, that’s why they went out and signed Richard Sherman, right? This week, every player in that locker room knows what this game means to Brady and Gronk – whether those guys will admit it or not – so everyone is going to bring their “A” game. With that in mind, and with Mac Jones facing Todd Bowles defense, my bold prediction is that the Buccaneers defense holds to Patriots to under 200 total yards of offense.

David: I predicted two weeks ago Tom Brady would become the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 600 career touchdown passes, in Week 4, against the New England Patriots. Well, here we are. And he needs nine of them. So, I’ve got to stick to my guns. Brady is throwing nine touchdowns against the Pats on Sunday Night Football. Boom.

Mike: Every one of my bold predictions thus far has been laughably, hilariously incorrect. By that logic, I should abide by the basic law of jinx and say something along the lines of “Mac Jones is going throw for 450 yards and 5 touchdowns.” Alas, I can’t risk directly challenging the gods that way. Let’s go with a huge game from Devin White instead. Double-digit tackles, at least one sack and a turnover. Giddy up.

Editor’s Pick by Gil Arcia: David’s bold prediction made me laugh and laugh hard while Bailey’s had me thinking. But I like the defense to pick things up in this game. The matchup is favorable, and I don’t believe Todd Bowles would allow his unit to be embarrassed for a second (or maybe third or fourth?) consecutive week. Therefore, I’m rolling with James for this game as I feel players will do everything possible to ensure they aren’t the (negative) talk of the town again. I’ll give Mike honorable mention.
