Earlier this morning Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy was a guest on Chicago’s 670 The Score with Mike Mulligan and David Haugh, and he discussed several topics about his team.

There was plenty on Justin Fields and how ready he’ll be to play in Chicago’s preseason opener this Saturday and if he could win the QB1 job (around the 04:20 mark), he discussed the back injury of his rookie tackle Teven Jenkins (07:15), the surprising play from newcomer Alec Ogletree (12:45), and so much more.

While we’re all expecting Fields to start sooner rather than later, and the Ogletree story has been fun to hear about, the topic on most fan’s minds these days is Jenkins. The team, as well as the entire league, knew about Jenkins’ ailing back from his college days, which is one reason he fell to the second round. Him not practicing is far from ideal, but the team feels they are working through this the correct way.

“Right now, this is just a part of the process, and we know that,” Nagy said. “So we’re just going to keep staying positive with him, and we have a plan with Andre Tucker, our head trainer, and our doctors. Obviously, Teven is frustrated, because he wants to be out here with his brothers. But right now, that’s not the case. He’s just doing everything he can do each day to get better in the training room.”
