The Cowboys are still making moves on their roster.

We say it all the time, the roster-building business in the NFL is a 24/7/365 endeavor. Stephen Jones and Will McClay, along with their staffs, are constantly looking for new players to bring in. The coaching staff is constantly looking at bottom of the roster and finding players who need to go. Today, for the Cowboys, those two things came together as the team swapped one bottom-of-the-roster wider receiver for a free agent who has actually spent time in Dallas before.

Wide receiver Reggie Davis played college ball at Georgia and went undrafted in 2017. He has bounced around to a few NFL teams, including a previous stint with the Cowboys on the practice squad in 2018-19. Most recently he was with the Bears on their practice squad.

Stephen Guidry was an undrafted free agent from Mississippi State who actually opted out of the Cowboys 2020 season after he was signed. As noted, Guidry was injured and missing time so the team decided to move on.

Expect more minor moves like this as the Cowboys try to get their roster just right before heading out to Oxnard. Of course, they still might surprise us by brining in a “name” free agent before training camp, or they may wait until closer to the season to make a move like that.
