Falcons vs. Dolphins: Who was the offensive player of the game?

You probably already know who it is

The Falcons secured a win in Miami almost solely on the back of what their offense did. It’s pretty clear that this team is going to lean on scoring points to remain relevant, and for the third game in the row, the offense delivered.

Here are the players that contributed the most toward this winning effort.

Kyle Pitts

At this point it seems absurd. No rookie tight end should be this good this soon. Today, he was winning against a very talented Dolphins secondary that mostly shutdown the rest of the receiving game. Yet, they had no answer for Pitts. He had 7 receptions on 8 targets for a staggering 163 yards and a 23.3 average.

More importantly, Matt Ryan showed he trusts that Pitts will pull in these catches when they need him most. Pitts caught two critical passes in the fourth quarter drive that secured the win. He’s a special talent and his quick emergence is turning into one of the biggest stories of the season.

Some fans are going to focus on the negatives (such as the fumble) and ignore everything Ryan did in this game. Bluntly, the franchise QB was freakishly accurate downfield for the entire game. His shots to both Pitts and Gage were pinpoint accurate even if his final accuracy stats didn’t reflect that.

He finished 25/40 for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. You can easily argue the interception wasn’t his fault though his fumble was a bit painful at the end of the game. Regardless, Ryan was a big part of this win and his performance over the last few weeks is a reminder that his career is far from over.

Cordarrelle Patterson

Atlanta, meet your new RB1. No disrespect to Mike Davis, but Patterson is on a different level altogether. While he struggled as a pass catcher, he got it done on the ground.

He picked up 60 yards on 14 carries for a healthy 4.3 average and punched one in for the touchdown as well. Patterson continues to be one of the biggest surprises of the season.
