Former San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Nick Mullens found a new team in free agency early Monday morning as the Philadelphia Eagles announced they’ve agreed to terms with the Niners QB.

Mullens had been with San Francisco during the Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch era, where he was undrafted in 2017. Mullens went from a UDFA to a starter after an injury to CJ Beathard in 2018, where he performed admirably and well enough to bump Beathard to QB3.

Mullens was on the field far more than Shanahan would ever imagine, as he started 16 games for the 49ers. His starting record was 5-11, with 25 touchdowns and 22 interceptions coming in 19 total games. We’ll always have this graphic:

Mullens actually has the second-most yards ever by a quarterback in his first, second games, behind some guy named Patrick Mahomes.

Mullens is still 26 and could beat Joe Flacco out to backup Jalen Hurts, though there is no telling if Mullens will be ready for training camp after elbow surgery this winter.

Mullens gets a fresh start in Philly. Best of luck to him.
