PLAYERS’ COACH.

If you’ve ever actually suited up, put on the helmet and pads, and hit people like a real man instead of merely lurching through the internet while you sit with mouth wide open, staring at RedZone highlights, you know coaches love to practice. They will practice in the morning, in the evening, after dinner, before practice and after practice. They don’t even like the games. They just like to practice.

David Culley is not your average coach. He in fact is a player’s coach. He knows what the players want. He listens. He obliges. After a great and incredible round of organized team activities with perfect attendance (as long as we don’t count Deshaun Watson), hard work, and most importantly, COMPETITION, the Texans have decided to cancel the practice after a great practice. This is sorcery. These are unknown waters. Who is this David Culley? He must be stopped.

Aaron Wilson has the full story:

The Texans have decided to not hold a full-team mandatory minicamp because they’re satisfied with what they’ve accomplished during a month of organized team activities and workouts.

Team officials met with the player leadership and reached an agreement to not conduct the minicamp due to high attendance at the voluntary portion of the offseason.

“Our attendance has been great for us here,” Texans coach David Culley said. “We’ve accomplished what we wanted to accomplish.”

The Texans won’t be in a position where they would have to make a decision on whether to fine embattled quarterback Deshaun Watson for potentially missing minicamp. Watson has requested a trade and is facing 22 civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct.

With the Texans adding 172 new players, installing a new offense and defense with nearly an entirely new coaching staff, and playing under a CBA that limits how often teams can practice, cancelling practice seems like a strange thing to do. Culley knows the pulse of his team, though. Don’t fret. Don’t worry. Open your heart. Culley knows all.
