If Duane Brown’s preseason absence was essentially scheduled independent of his contract situation, injuries have really stretched the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive line depth entering the preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pete Carroll confirmed at Tuesday’s press conference that neither right tackle Cedric Ogbuehi nor starting center Ethan Pocic will be available for Saturday night’s exhibition. From the looks of things, Ogbuehi’s injury figures to be more serious and may jeopardize his whole preseason.

Ogbuehi had been splitting first-team snaps in training camp with Brandon Shell, who was Seattle’s starting RT last season. Pocic’s injury has paved the way for Kyle Fuller to work with the main offense.

With no Brown, Ogbuehi, or Pocic, that’s possibly three first-team regular season starters who won’t be in action this weekend. It’ll certainly be a big opportunity for Fuller and rookie Stone Forsythe throughout this preseason to showcase themselves. Ideally Forsythe isn’t starting in regular season games and Brown’s contract is sorted out, but you never know.

Rashaad Penny and D.J. Reed are also both nursing injuries that have their Week 1 preseason status in doubt. I’m sure fans would love for Penny to get some more game action after hardly playing in 2020 while recovering from his ACL tear, but they may need to wait a little longer.
