Happy Wednesday, everyone! We’ve got some new developments on the C.J. Henderson front and more…

Here’s all the Jacksonville Jaguars news that’s fit to print, or find from around the Internet.

C.J. Henderson rejoins Jaguars practice after missing scrimmage

Jaguars cornerback C.J. Henderson returned to practice Tuesday after being excused from Sunday’s scrimmage for personal reasons, and the team is optimistic that the second-year player can make up for all the time he has missed in training camp before the Sept. 12 season opener.

Henderson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list July 23. He was activated Friday but has participated in only two of the team’s 11 practices.

Jimmy Johnson consulted Urban Meyer about Texas and Jaguars jobs

When Urban Meyer had some big career decisions to make this year, he turned to a legendary coach for advice. Former University of Miami and NFL head coach Jimmy Johnson has revealed that he consulted Meyer about both the Texas and Jacksonville Jaguars jobs.

In an interview Tuesday on The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz, Johnson noted that he was traveling to Jacksonville to meet with Meyer and speak to the team on Wednesday. Johnson certainly doesn’t have any desire to get back into coaching, but he does have an established relationship with Meyer. That relationship led Meyer to Johnson when the former was weighing jobs at Texas and with the Jaguars.

Jacksonville named most likely landing spot for Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas is one of the Saints’ best and most accomplished players. But tension has seemingly been growing between the two sides for the better part of a year. An injury-riddled 2020 saw Thomas suspended by the team, and the star wide receiver reportedly ignored calls from Saints officials for months after the season. Now, with coach Sean Payton publicly lamenting Thomas delaying an offseason surgery that’ll keep him sidelined into the fall, the wideout has implied the Saints are trying to “damage” his reputation.

And Jacksonville has been named No. 1 in the landing spot rankings. Hmmm.

Trevor Lawrence dazzles at annual scrimmage

“The savior has arrived,” a fan yelled from the stands during Sunday’s scrimmage.

The Jaguars welcomed fans back to the Bank for the first time during the Urban Meyer Era. This was the fans’ first chance to see Trevor Lawrence throw passes at the Bank.

The scrimmage aspects of the event were a little bit disappointing. The team opted to not wear pads. Saturday’s practice had more of a scrimmage feel. Nonetheless, fans left the Bank with dreams of playoff games and Lombardi Trophies.

Jaguars go light at scrimmage, but Trevor Lawrence still impresses

It was plenty warm during the Jaguars’ warm-up scrimmage as the team gets set to take on the Cleveland Browns next week in the first preseason game of the year.

This would be the first time the players and coaches held a workout within the stadium, hosting it in front of 15,506 fans who showed up to the event on Sunday. For Meyer, the atmosphere was perfect.

“You don’t usually get wowed by a stadium, but the first time I walked through there I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is beautiful.’” Meyer said of the atmosphere at TIAA Bank Field.

DJ Chark undergoes finger surgery

Jaguars wide receiver DJ Chark has had surgery on his hand recently, according to head coach Urban Meyer. The coach revealed the news to local media following the Jags in-stadium scrimmage on Sunday afternoon. According to Meyer, the surgery was to repair a hairline break.

CJ Henderson on the trade block

One of the top picks from the 2020 NFL Draft may already be on the trade block. The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly taking calls about second-year cornerback C.J. Henderson.

The Jaguars have signaled to other teams in the NFL that they would be willing to trade Henderson, per ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. The relationship between Jacksonville and Henderson is good, but a trade may be what’s best for both sides.

Urban Meyer: “We don’t have four year plan, we have one year plan”

Despite taking over some bad teams, Urban Meyer never had a losing record in four stops over 17 seasons as a college head coach. Meyer has no plans to lose this year as head coach of the Jaguars, either.

Meyer took over the worst team in the NFL, but he says he wants to win in 2021, not slowly build his team up. And he says that’s why he hasn’t yet named No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence the starting quarterback, because Lawrence has to prove he’s ready to win this year, not simply that he’s the team’s quarterback of the future.

Jaguars hoping for help from first round flop

The Jacksonville Jaguars seemingly have the NFL market cornered on first-round flops.

Coach Urban Meyer has as many as eight (depending on the evaluator) of them on his 90-man roster and would have another had Pittsburgh defensive tackle Tyson Alualu not changed his mind after agreeing to a deal with Jacksonville during free agency. Nonetheless, those remaining are trying to turn around careers that have fallen short of outside expectations.re

The list includes 2007 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Tim Tebow and four more from the powerhouse Southeastern Conference, where Meyer coached at Florida for six seasons (2005-10).
