Despite buzz, media is allowed to film Lamar Jackson throwing to receivers at practice

The Baltimore Ravens have seen quarterback Lamar Jackson grow into a star over his first three seasons in the NFL. Now entering his fourth year, Jackson is expected to take another big leap.

When responding to a fan, Jamison Hensley of ESPN revealed that media is apparently no longer allowed to film Jackson throwing the football to receivers. However, a team source clarified that his statement is not true.

Although Hensley said that the media isn’t able to film Jackson anymore at practice, the source clarified that nothing has changed in terms of policy within the organization, and that for some portions of practice where two or more quarterbacks are throwing in drills, they don’t want to give away route concepts and any new wrinkles that they’ve added to their offense, so those drills are off-limits. Other than that, Jackson can be filmed throwing to receivers in practice.

Teams want to keep many things about their offenses a secret. During drills where Baltimore is practicing routes that could be used to catch NFL defenses off guard, the team doesn’t want those to be revealed to the league before they have a chance to use them. Jackson is still allowed to be filmed at practice as he always has, just not during certain drills with more than one quarterback on the field.
