Ndamukong Suh listed New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers as a top-5 player in an important quarterback category

It’s no secret that Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Rodgers don’t get along. The rivalry between the two started in 2014 when it appeared that Suh blatantly stepped on Rodgers’ leg while the quarterback was on the ground in a game between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.

Then in 2021, Suh appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast and admitted he’s “gonna always want to piss off Aaron and make him not want to be my friend on the football field.”

And as recently as last month, Suh appeared on the Rich Eisen show and said he didn’t believe Rodgers and the New York Jets were real contenders.

Despite the perceived disrespect, Suh does have Rodgers as a top-5 quarterback in one category.

Appearing on NFL Network’s Total Access, Suh listed his top-5 toughest quarterbacks to sack in the NFL. Coming in at number four was none other than Rodgers himself.

“Aaron Rodgers is a great guy,” said Suh. “I’ve gone against him year after year after year and he makes it a point not to give up sacks … that body clock in his head, he’s moving around in the pocket, he’s going to make sure he gets rid of the ball and/or throw it out of bounds so you don’t get that sack.”

While Rodgers usually finds himself around the middle of the pack in terms of sacks taken by quarterbacks, his talent and experience have certainly saved him from taking more.

Considering the Jets had the third-worst pass-blocking grade last season (per PFF), Rodgers could have his work cut out for him this year if the unit does not improve significantly. But if the Jets offensive line can keep him upright like the Packers did in 2020 (where Rodgers was only sacked 20 times – good for 25th overall), Gang Green could finally have their own MVP-level quarterback play.
