The Seattle Seahawks had the weekend off after dropping their Week 5 divisional showdown against the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday, and while time off is typically good for recovery, the Hawks hit the practice field Wednesday without a lot of their top talent.

The biggest name on the initial injury report was, of course, Russell Wilson, who did not practice following surgery on the middle finger of his throwing hand last Friday. However, in addition to Wilson, the list of key members of the team not practicing was somewhat lengthy and included Duane Brown, Gabe Jackson, Damien Lewis, Chris Carson, Carlos Dunlap and Bobby Wagner.

Brown, Jackson and Dunlap all had veteran rest days, so there is nothing to be concerned about there. Head coach Pete Carroll stated earlier in the day that Carson would likely sit out Wednesday, but they planned to let him participate on Thursday and to see how he felt after that. Wagner is dealing with a banged up knee, but should be good to play in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, after offensive lineman Jamarco Jones recently missed time due to an illness, Damien Lewis sat out Wednesday practice and Kyle Fuller was a limited participant, both due to illness. Whether this is the same illness that Jones had and has simply passed it to his teammates on the offensive line, we may not know, but it’s not great to have two starters on the line sick in advance of an important game as the Hawks look to keep pace in the NFC playoff picture.

Oh, also young bright spots Darrell Taylor and DK Metcalf were limited in practice with lower leg injuries, so that’s cool too.
