When the Seattle Seahawks take the field against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 7, they will do so with the services of their 2018 first round pick for the first time since the season opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Rashaad Penny, of course, has been unavailable, either as an inactive or on injured reserve since the opener due to a calf strain, and has yet to fully showcase what he can do after recovering from two knee operations over the past 22 months. With the status of backup, but now starter due to the neck injury of starter Chris Carson, Alex Collins’ in question following his own injury in Week 6, Penny’s presence will be welcome. He joins second year running back DeeJay Dallas and third year man Travis Homer as depth for the Hawks behind Geno Smith, who is set to make his second start for the Seahawks following the loss of Russell Wilson due to injury.

As reported by Mike Garofolo earlier in the day, in order to make room for Penny on the roster, the Seahawks are releasing veteran tackle Cedric Ogbuehi.
