The Panthers have added some veteran depth to their linebacker corps.
The Panthers made a few roster moves today before the team leaves town for their two joint practices with the Colts ahead of the preseason opener. Linebacker Josh Bynes has been signed to a 1-year contract, and safety Lano Hill has been activated off the COVID-19 list and waived. Hill has not practiced with the Panthers since training camp began due to being on the COVID-19 list the entire time.
A couple of Panthers transactions before team heads to Indy:
– LB Josh Bynes has signed a 1-year deal. Much needed help at LB. Started every game for CIN last year.
– S Lano Hill activated off COVID-19 list and released. He was on COVID-19 list since the start of training camp.

The Panthers are adding another linebacker to the roster due to Denzel Perryman’s injury* that has kept him sidelined longer than the team expected, so the move to bring in a veteran with experience makes sense. The 32-year-old Bynes tallied 99 tackles while playing in all 16 games for the Bengals last season.
With Denzel Perryman out longer than anticipated, Panthers signed veteran LB Josh Bynes, who played w/ Cam Newton at Auburn and won a SB w/ Ravens.
Bynes, who turns 32 in 2 wks, started 16 games and ha 99 tackles last yr w/ Bengals.

The Panthers will be on the road for the next several days for joint practices with the Colts and the team’s first preseason game on Sunday afternoon.
*- Perryman’s injury has not been officially disclosed, but according to WFNZ’s Will Palasczuk it’s a ‘strain of some sort’. Once we have more information we’ll provide it.
