It’s power ranking time again at NFL.com. Dan Hanzus’ preseason rankings are out and he has the Los Angeles Rams at number six.

Hanzus mainly describes the shuffle in the offensive backfield since the injury to Cam Akers, noting that Darrell Henderson Jr. will be looking to fill in as the main rusher but will need support from a solid second back that appears to be Xavier Jones at the moment. It seems the situation isn’t taken as much of a negative factor since Hanzus moved the Rams up one spot from his prior edition of rankings on May 3rd. The placement also displays an optimistic outlook for the Rams offseason changes with quarterback Matthew Stafford adjusting to a new system, and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris taking over for Brandon Staley.

The top five include the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Baltimore Ravens. It may be be hard to argue with the top four. The Ravens however could be open for debate especially with the recent injury troubles at the WR position.

The Rams are ranked above the rest of the NFC West which again proves to be the most competitive division in the league with three teams in the top nine. The Arizona Cardinals are the one team in the division left out of the top tier, ranked 18th.

If the preseason power rankings prove accurate, it would mean a likely division title for the Rams, playoff appearance, and a possible rematch meeting with the Aaron Rodgers led Green Bay Packers.
