The Pittsburgh Steelers have filled out their 16-man practice squad by adding CB Linden Stephens.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another roster move on Wednesday in order to bring their practice squad up to the 16 players allowed by the NFL.

Despite adding two new players to the practice squad on Tuesday while releasing another, the Steelers still had an open position after cornerback Mark Gilbert signed with the Detroit Lions to their 53-man roster.

To replace the lost cornerback, the Steelers added Linden Stephens. Undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2018, Stephens signed with the New Orleans Saints following the NFL draft. Failing to make the roster, Stephens spent a couple weeks on the practice squad at the Los Angeles Rams before landing on the Broncos practice squad for the remainder of his rookie year. Sticking with Denver through training camp, Stephens did not make the Broncos roster and signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in late September. Late in the 2019 season, the Miami Dolphins poached Stephens from the Seahawks practice squad onto their 53-man roster where he appeared in three games and had three tackles.

Released from the Dolphins during the 2020 offseason, Stephens was claimed off waivers by the Seahawks where he spent training camp and landed on the practice squad. Stephens was signed to the Seahawks’ 53 man roster prior to Week 3 and appeared in 13 games and played primarily on special teams as he only saw 35 snaps on defense.

Stephens spent the 2021 training camp with the Washington Football Team but did not make the roster come September. Stephens spent both Week 3 & 4 of the 2021 season on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad before being released.

The Steelers now become Stephens’ eighth NFL team in which he has spent time in his four-year career. Being signed to the practice squad, Stephens is merely getting another opportunity to showcase his skills in order to stick in the league.
