New York Jets fans are starting to lose confidence

In a poll run by Gang Green Nation, New York Jets fans were asked about their confidence level in the team. This comes after the Jets’ 26-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 3.

Perhaps to some surprise, only 78% of fans who answered the poll voted that they are “not confident” in the future of the team. Four percent were “very confident” in the team despite the rough start, while 18% are still “moderately confident” going forward.

This is a drastic change from last year, when the Jets also started the season 0-3. That team was led by Adam Gase.

In a survey from SB Nation Reacts after the Jets’ Week 3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in 2020, they found that only eight percent of Jets fans had any type of confidence in the team.

If anything, the change in numbers bodes well for the Jets current regime. Despite arguably playing worse than Adam Gase’s Jets from a year ago, a decent number of fans still have hope. And there’s good reason for that hope.

It would be premature to completely lose faith in a rookie head coach after three games. Couple that with a rookie quarterback, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator, and things are bound to get worse before they get better.

Fans may also understand that the team hasn’t exactly had the easiest schedule to date. In Weeks 1 and 3, the Jets played the Panthers and Broncos, respectively. Those teams are currently 3-0. In Week 2 the Jets faced the Patriots, a division rival led by Bill Belichick, who has an absurdly consistent record of thwarting rookie quarterbacks.

Still, while those are legitimate justifications, that isn’t going to persuade fans to practice patience. Winning is the only cure that can solve these problems.

Week 4 doesn’t get much easier for the Jets as they host the 2-1 Tennessee Titans, who are looking to extend their lead in the AFC South.

The Titans may be without Julio Jones and A.J. Brown in this contest, but Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill are more than capable enough to produce a win on the road. The Jets are expected to be without a pair of receivers themselves in Elijah Moore and Jeff Smith (concussion), with Jamison Crowder’s (groin) status also up in the air.
