Kyle Allen has a plain message for defensive end Myles Garrett when the Houston Texans host the Cleveland Browns Sunday for Week 13.

“Be nice to me,” Allen said.

Allen used to be teammates with Garrett when the two played together at Texas A&M from 2014-15, which gives Allen considerable insight as to how dominant the former 2017 No. 1 overall pick is.

“He’s only gotten better since then,” Allen told reporters Wednesday. “The edge rushers are obviously really good. They’ve got a lot of stars over there. They’ve got a lot of good players. I think they pose a good challenge for us like last week. We’re going to work through it, get a plan together and get ready for them.”

Garrett is far and away the Browns’ leading defender in the sacks column with 10.0. The nearest defender is defensive tackle Taven Bryan with 2.5. Garrett has logged his fifth consecutive double-digit sack season.

What Allen remembers from his time at Texas A&M with Garrett is how extraordinary the Arlington Martin High School product was.

Said Allen: “I just remember his picture from high school with him running around. I think everyone has seen it. It’s him looking like he does now and a bunch of his high school teammates, so he looks 30 years older than them. He’s a freak. Good dude. He was the best player on our team then and is probably one of the best players in the league now.”

Garrett has been a terror for the rest of the NFL, and the Texans are no exception. The 6-4, 272-pound edge rusher has logged 3.0 sacks against the Texans in his four career games against Houston. His most dominant performance was on Dec. 2, 2018, when he had 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits in a 29-13 loss to the Texans.
