Here are our top 3 Bears players that have the best chance to be a first time selection to the Pro Bowl team.

The Chicago Bears have several players that have a Pro Bowl on their resume, but who are their top candidates to make the team for the first time?

For those wondering, here are all the current Chicago players that have been picked as a Pro Bowler at some point in their career.

OFFENSE
Allen Robinson
Cody Whitehair
Andy Dalton
Nick Foles
Tarik Cohen
Jimmy Graham

DEFENSE
Khalil Mack
Akiem Hicks
Eddie Jackson
Robert Quinn

And here are my top 3 Bears most likely to get that first ever appearance.

1) Roquan Smith, inside linebacker: Sure Roquan was a 2nd-Team All-Pro a year ago, but he wasn’t named to the Pro Bowl team. Smith was robbed last season and if he simply matches his outstanding production from 2020 I think he’ll have the name recognition to make the NFC squad.

2) Jaylon Johnson, cornerback: Shoulder injuries are a legitimate question mark for the second year corner, but after making several all-rookie teams in 2020 he has a great opportunity to build off that as the Bears new CB1. If he can grab a few interceptions he could find himself playing in Las Vegas for the Pro Bowl.

The defense of the Bears is looking for a bounce back season after two years of playing under Chuck Pagano, and a return to a Vic Fangio style could be exactly what fuels their return to dominance.

Defensive coordinator Sean Desai sat under the learning tree of Fangio for four years, and when Fangio left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos he thought so highly of Desai that he tried to bring him with him. If the Bears’ D can get some swagger back then I would expect both Smith and Johnson to have a great shot at their first ever Pro Bowl nods.

On offense things are cloudier, but there’s at least one player that was knocking on the door a year ago and is heading into the 2021 season confident and with a chip on his shoulder.

3) David Montgomery, running back: I’m expecting Montgomery to have an outstanding season, but I’m not sure if he’ll see enough volume to beat out the usual NFC suspects at running back. It really seems the Bears have the bodies for more of a committee than we’re used to seeing, but if Montgomery stays healthy his newfound speed could propel him to the Pro Bowl.

You guys think there are any other players that could be Bears’ first timers at the Pro Bowl?
