The Giants’ receiver shouldn’t miss much time

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News is reporting that New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay is expected to miss two to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Golladay left practice on Tuesday, pulling up and walking off the field after attempting to catch a pass across the middle on the first play of 7 on 7 drills. It was reported Wednesday that the injury was a “minor hamstring pull” and that he wouldn’t miss much time.

Today we got a more exact timeline which fits with the reported minor pull.

As Leonard notes, patience and caution are in the Giants’ best interest. Golladay only has one complete season on his resume, missing time in 2017 and 2020 with hamstring injuries. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky and can be prone to setbacks if the athlete attempts to rush back to the field. Even when the muscle feels healed, it might not be “100 percent” yet, and could still be vulnerable.

The Giants are counting on Golladay to man the “X” receiver position and help open up their offense as a whole. The “2-3 week” timeline should get Golladay back on the field about three weeks before the start of the regular season.
