With the draft a month away, it’s about that time for NFL prospect visits to ramp up. That’s a good thing for the Jags, who will need to knock the draft out of the park as they still have several needs.

While most fans have pointed to the offense as the team’s biggest issue, the defense needs a good amount of work, too, and it all starts with rushing the passer. That’s exactly why many mock drafts have the Jags taking Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 1 overall pick. However, with 11 other draft picks, the Jags can add more help in the trenches than just him.

One name to keep in mind could be Florida Gators defensive lineman Zachary Carter, who had his pro day today. In the process, he was worked out by Jags defensive line coach Brentson Buckner and revealed that he will meet with the team this week, according to Sports Illustrated’s Demetrius Harvey.

Carter, who has a fourth-round projection, would give the Jags more depth to develop in the trenches like the team added last season when it selected Jay Tufele with the 106th pick. He’s a player who plays with a lot of power when it comes to his upper body and also is a versatile player at 6-foot-4, 281-pounds.

Carter finished his senior season in Gainesville with 31 tackles and 7.5 sacks. Overall he finished his career with 102 total tackles, 17 sacks, and fared well when it came to tackles for loss with 26. He currently has a late third-round to fourth-round grade, which means he may be in play for the Jags with pick No. 106.
