The Jacksonville Jaguars are hopeful they can turn around their 3-7 season with a string of wins to end the year, but there’s always a nice consolation prize that comes with a losing record: a top draft pick.

Unfortunately for the Jaguars, the strength of schedule tiebreaker doesn’t look like it’ll be in their favor. Thanks to a schedule that includes games against NFC East teams — all of which have winning records — and plenty of other teams above .500, the Jaguars are currently last of the eight teams with three wins.

With seven weeks left in the season, the 2023 NFL Draft order looks like this (strength of schedule in parentheses):

  1. Houston Texans: 1-8-1 (.517)
  2. Carolina Panthers: 3-8 (.457)
  3. Chicago Bears: 3-8 (.572)
  4. Las Vegas Raiders: 3-7 (.462)
  5. Seattle Seahawks (via Denver Broncos): 3-7 (.480)
  6. Detroit Lions (via Los Angeles Rams): 3-7 (.489)
  7. Houston Texans (via Cleveland Browns): 3-7 (.503)
  8. Pittsburgh Steelers: 3-7 (.526)
  9. Jacksonville Jaguars: 3-7 (.526)
  10. Philadelphia Eagles (via New Orleans Saints): 4-7 (.480)
  11. Arizona Cardinals: 4-7 (.514)
  12. Green Bay Packers: 4-7 (.578)
  13. Detroit Lions: 4-6 (.551)
  14. Indianapolis Colts: 4-6-1 (.515)
  15. Atlanta Falcons: 5-6 (.429)
  16. Los Angeles Chargers: 5-5 (.451)
  17. Washington Commanders: 6-5 (.546)
  18. New York Jets: 6-4 (.523)

The Jaguars have picked in the top 10 in 14 of the last 15 drafts. More recently, Jacksonville became the second team in NFL history to pick No. 1 overall in back-to-back drafts.
