According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and first reported by Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers is visiting with the Chargers on Wednesday.

Bowers’ visit with Los Angeles is just before the buzzer sounds on Thursday’s deadline for top 30 visits. Kris Jenkins, Junior Colson, and Nate Wiggins are a few of the other known top prospects who were in the facility for meetings with the Chargers this week.

Bowers is the consensus top tight end in this class. As Schefter mentions in his tweet, he met with the Bears and Jets. The Bears hold the ninth pick after they presumably selected Caleb Williams first overall. New York has the tenth selection in the first round.

There’s not much to say about Bowers that most don’t already know. Despite not testing athletically, he’s hit speeds of 21.9 MPH on GPS tracking. He’s a freak prospect that blurs the line between receiver and tight end. For his size, even though there may be some blocking questions, he is still above average in that department.

Bowers put up 717 yards and six touchdowns while missing two games in 2023 due to an ankle sprain that was stabilized via tightrope surgery. By all accounts, the Georgia TE has cleared most medical concerns and appears to be ready for 2024.

The Chargers also hosted an assortment of later-round tight ends for top 30 visits in Costa Mesa last week with TCU’s Jared Wiley, Tennessee’s McCallan Castles, and Furman’s Mason’s Pline. Wiley and Castles tested fairly well from an athletic standpoint, with RAS scores of over eight. Despite not having requisite athletic measurements for an RAS score, Pline ran a 40 in the 4.7’s and has a D-II college basketball career background.

After signing Will Dissly to be their premium blocker and picking up Hayden Hurst as a system fit on a cheap contract, the Chargers could look to add someone capable of creating explosive plays to the current tight end room.
