The Pittsburgh Steelers traded for starting cornerback Donte Jackson this offseason but could still find themselves drafting one in the 2024 NFL draft. Under General Manager Omar Khan Pittsburgh has been favoring athleticism in prospects and Mercer cornerback Tavion McCarthy certainly meets those requirements.

McCarthy opened eyes at his pro day when he showed off a ridiculous 44-inch vertical jump. This would have been the fifth-best by a defensive back since 1999.

As a late-round prospect, McCarthy would be a simple choice for the Steelers. If you are going to spend a pick on a defensive back late, go for the athlete. The Steelers have their starters in place and should still be able to find a slot cornerback in free agency.
