The Houston Texans brought back wide receiver Noah Brown for the 2024 season following his first year on the team this past season.

Brown agreed to a one-year, $5 million on Monday to give quarterback C.J. Stroud a familiar weapon for this upcoming year. With Brown, Stroud will get back all four of his top pass-catchers in fellow wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell as well as tight end Dalton Schultz, who re-signed earlier this offseason.

The contract Brown agreed to is a little cheaper than the original one reported on Monday. The maximum value of Brown’s one-year deal is $5 million, according to KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, with just $3 million in guaranteed money.

Here’s a full breakdown of Brown’s 2024 contract:

  • Terms: one year with a maximum value of $5 million
  • Guaranteed money: $3 million
  • Signing bonus: $1 million
  • 2024 base salary: $2 million (fully guaranteed)
  • 2024 cap hit: $3.58 million (per Over the Cap)
  • Active roster bonus: $58,824 per game up to $1 million
  • Other incentives: $1 million in playtime and catches

It’s a slightly-bigger deal than the one-year, $2.6 million contract Brown signed in 2023 with more incentives.

Brown, 28, opened the 2023 season deep on the Texans wide receiver depth chart. He missed Weeks 2-5 with a groin injury he suffered in Week 1 but broke out in Week 9 with a six-catch, 153-yard, one-touchdown game. Brown had an even bigger game in Week 10 with seven receptions for 172 yards.

He started Weeks 12-16 after the Texans receiving corps suffered numerous injuries, including a season-ending one to rookie Tank Dell. Brown finished the year with 33 receptions for 567 yards and two touchdowns but missed Houston’s divisional round loss to the Baltimore Ravens after he sustained a season-ending shoulder injury early in the wild card win over the Cleveland Browns.

Brown should once again fill in as the fourth option for Stroud behind Collins, Dell and Schultz. He and fellow veteran Robert Woods are quality depth options for Houston if injuries strike again.
