The Houston Texans lost two defensive tackles in one day this week but quickly brought in another after the team signed veteran Tim Settle Jr.

He and the team agreed to a two-year, $7 million with incentives, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Houston traded 2023 starting defensive tackle Maliek Collins to the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday, hours before fellow 2023 starter Sheldon Rankins signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Arik Armstead, another defensive lineman target formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday afternoon.

Settle, 26, has mostly been a reserve defensive tackle during his six NFL seasons. He’s tallied nine career sacks in 95 games with 16 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for a loss and 87 combined tackles. Settle finished the 2023 season for Buffalo with one sack, two quarterback hits and 14 combined tackles in 379 defensive snaps. He also has experience on special teams.

Houston’s only other defensive tackles are Khalil Davis and Foley Fatukasi.
