The Chargers are currently projected to hold the No. 9 overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft after dropping to the Ravens on Sunday.

Sitting at 4-7, all attention has been shifted to the upcoming offseason and what Los Angeles could do to bolster their roster.

With that being said, let’s take a look at who draft experts are pairing with L.A. in the first round.

Yahoo Sports’ Nate Tice — CB Cooper DeJean, Iowa

“The Chargers need help throughout their defense, but the Lions and Packers exposed their spine like a Sub-Zero fatality in recent weeks. While defensive tackle would be preferred, there aren’t any, at least at this time, who can match DeJean’s impact.

DeJean is one of the best athletes and defenders in the country. His versatility, with a valid case being made that he can be an impact player at outside cornerback, slot or safety, makes him more like Jalen Ramsey than any other prospect in recent years. He’s even a fantastic punt returner (although with the Chargers his return ability wouldn’t be needed because of Derius Davis on the roster).”

33rd Team’s Connor Livesay — DT Jer’Zhan Newton, Illinois

“It’s no secret what positions the Los Angeles Chargers need in 2024. Jer’Zhan Newton is the best interior defensive lineman in this class by far and has the argument for being one of the best defensive players regardless of position. Newton would instantly improve the Chargers’ interior pass rush and is a quality run defender as well.”

Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy — CB Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama

“The Chargers don’t have any huge needs but getting a lockdown No. 1 cornerback is a great option in the first round.”

Sports Illustrated’s Luke Easterling — EDGE Dallas Turner, Alabama

“Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack are a dominant tandem when they’re both on the field, but moving on from Mack next offseason could save the Chargers plenty of salary cap space. This scenario would give Los Angeles the opportunity to replace Mack with another explosive edge rusher in Turner, who is putting up huge numbers this year.”

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso — EDGE Chop Robinson, Penn State

“Robinson could actually go higher than this because of his athletic gifts. Either way, the Chargers would be smart to continue to add youthful talent to the pass rush.”

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards — DT Jer’Zhan Newton, Illinois

“The spine of Los Angeles’ defense is a problem. Jer’Zhan Newton is a high-motor player who should hold that collective accountable.”

Fox Sports’ Jason McIntyre — WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

“The Mike Williams injury hurt, and his time in LA may be done. Last year’s first-round pick Quentin Johnston has really struggled, and they need depth on the outside.”

NFL Mocks’ Beau Adams — CB Cooper DeJean, Iowa

“Cooper DeJean has a crystal-clean coverage technique with a quick twitch for the ball. An intelligent player who knows when to play the man or the ball with great instincts on the field. Cooper is a lockdown guy who’ll come in and help the Chargers grim secondary.”
