In an effort to take as much of the human element out of the equation on these mock drafts, I ran a computer simulation of the first round using Pro Football Network’s (PFN) mock draft simulator, where four trades took place.

When it comes to mock drafts, we are all going to view team needs differently. We are all going to evaluate the prospect’s film differently, and we are all going to have different views on the size and athletic testing thresholds. That’s the wonderful part about this pre-draft process.

However, with that, there are many variables at play that affect the outcome of these mock drafts. Even when using the computer simulation, there are still some variables at play because individuals put together the prospect rankings and determined what the top needs are for each team. But allowing the simulator to take control reduces the variables at play, hopefully providing a realistic outcome–which is the ultimate goal of all this.

Now, let’s dive in and see how everything turned out.
