There have been a handful of rumors about who the San Francisco 49ers signed to their practice squad. The team officially announced the signing of 13 players.

The team announced that Davontae Harris (hamstring) and Maurice Hurst (ankle) are on injured reserve. General manager John Lynch said Harris tweaked his hamstring about 10 days ago. The team liked what they saw from Harris in a short period of time. Both Harris and Hurst are eligible to return in three games.

To replace both players, the 49ers signed C Jake Brendel and DB Dontae Johnson.

Here are the 13 players who signed:

  • QB Nate Sudfeld
  • FB Josh Hokit
  • WR Travis Benjamin
  • WR River Cracraft
  • G Senio Kelemete
  • OL Corbin Kaufusi
  • OL Colton McKivitz
  • TE Jordan Matthews
  • Edge Alex Barrett
  • NT Darrion Danniels
  • LB Elijah Sullivan
  • S Jared Mayden

OT Alfred Gutierrez was brought back to the practice squad, but he doesn’t count as Gutierrez is a part of the NFL’s International Pathway Program. That means the 49ers have room to sign four more players.

Lynch, on a conference call Wednesday, said the team is still in discussions with S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

TE Tanner Hudson and CB Dee Virgin have to fly in and take physicals before they can be a part of the team’s practice squad, per Lynch. So, make that two spots, assuming both pass their physicals. Lynch said he liked what Virgin brought as a special-teamer.

Lynch also said the swelling in Trey Lance’s finger has gone down and that he’s trending in the right direction to return to the practice field next Monday.
