Rams LT Andrew Whitworth on Bosa: He’s got some rare power, I think he’ll be really special

The pass rushers in the NFC West feature some of the best in the NFL. Aaron Donald is the best player in the league, while J.J. Watt and Chandler Jones should present problems for every team in the NFL.

The 49ers’ defense played well above expectations last year without their star player Nick Bosa. Chris Long has a podcast called “Green Light,” where Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth singled Bosa out as one of two promising young pass rushers in the NFL. The other player was Myles Garrett.

Here’s Whitworth’s quote on Bosa:

“I think he’s a special rusher. I think feeling him as a rookie, he’s one of the most powerful kids I’ve ever felt that young. Really in the run game, pass game, everything. He’s got some serious pop. And so I think there’s youth strength and then there’s like, man when this guy kind of hits his stride, if he’s that powerful now, wow. He’s gonna be a guy that’s gonna really be able to push the pocket. And obviously plays with an incredible motor and has the big brother to look up to who’s a hell of a player too.”

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill left tackle. Whitworth is a two-time All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowler. He’s a stud, so for Bosa to receive this type of praise from someone, the caliber of Whitworth speaks volumes.

You don’t have to study All-22 film to realize Bosa is a special player. One trait that Whitworth singled out above was Nick’s power, which the veteran left tackle believes is better than Joey Bosa:

“Nick has felt more powerful than what I feel when I feel Joey. Got some rare power. I think he’s one that’s gonna be really special, for sure.”

Trey Lance will receive a ton of attention, and rightfully so, but it’s Bosa’s return that could be the reason the 49ers return to the postseason.
