It may not surprise you to hear the Jacksonville Jaguars’ salary cap situation is a bit tight.
After adding six newcomers in free agency, Over The Cap ranked the Jaguars close to the bottom of the league in cap sapce. Then they agreed to a deal with former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead that’s expected to average $17 million per year over three seasons.
Details of the Armstead deal haven’t been revealed yet, but the contract — as is the case with most Jaguars deals — will likely have a much smaller cap hit in the first year before ballooning in later seasons. Still, it looks clear the team will have to find more room, especially with a draft class on the way that’ll get signed in the summer.
