All signs already pointed toward the Jacksonville Jaguars making cornerback a top priority this offseason, but that need became paramount Tuesday when the team made the decision to release Darious Williams.

While Williams put together a strong 2023 season with the second most passes defended (19) in the NFL, the move also wasn’t exactly shocking. The $11.5 million worth of additional cap space was too much to pass up for a Jaguars team that is making a bit of scheme switch under new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen.
