Deebo Samuel’s unexpected breakout year made him a shoo-in to be the 49ers’ most-improved player in 2021. He was Pro Football Focus’ selection for that post-season superlative following his historic season as a wide receiver and running back.

There’s not much argument against Samuel as the 49ers’ MIP because his leap into the stratosphere of the NFL’s elite outshined any step forward by another player. What’s interesting though is to look ahead to 2022 and determine which player will win that title for San Francisco next season.
