Analyst rates AFC North as third-best division for QBs in the NFL

Adam Schein of NFL.com says that the AFC North is right behind the NFC West and AFC West in quarterback rankings.

It’s an exciting time to be a quarterback in the AFC North.

Joe Burrow is helping with the Cincinnati Bengals’ rebuild after being selected as the number one overall draft pick.

Baker Mayfield, also a first overall draft pick, has already turned the Browns from a laughingstock to a playoff team.

Lamar Jackson has already won an MVP and is revolutionizing the position.

NFL.com analyst Adam Schein ranked all eight divisions in the NFL by quarterback play. The NFC West won the crown with Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, and a tandem of Jimmy Garappolo and Trey Lance.

The AFC West took second place, thanks in large part to Patrick Mahomes.

But the AFC North came in third, and according to Schein, could have been second if not for Big Ben (someone needs to tell Schein that Roethlisberger is in the best shape of his life at the age of 39).

“In 2021, Ben’s the fourth-best quarterback in his own division,” Schein said. “On the other end of the career spectrum … Burrow is going to shine. Fresh off a promising — albeit injury-abbreviated — rookie campaign, the 2020 No. 1 overall pick now has his No. 1 receiver from back at LSU. With Ja’Marr Chase joining Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd in Cincy, Burrow has a legit Big Three. Burrow also has it — you know, of the indefinable sort.”

He also went on to say that Jackson is a perennial MVP candidate, and that Mayfield has a promising career ahead of him if he continues to gel with Kevin Stefanski.

According to his assessment, the former MVP is the best quarterback in the division, but Burrow comes in at second.
