The Chiefs head coach provided two updates on the team ahead of its matchup with the Packers.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid joined the media for his final chat of the week early Friday afternoon — ahead of the team’s Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Mike Remmers out

Reid first noted that offensive lineman Mike Remmers had been ruled out for the game after he missed practice all week. Remmers, who had started the previous two games at right tackle, was replaced by rookie Lucas Niang.

Niang had a nice night in his return to the starting lineup, allowing only one pressure, a hurry, against the New York Giants (according to Pro Football Focus).

“Lucas obviously worked hard to get himself back and ready to go,” said Reid. “There were a couple techniques that he needed to work on, fundamentals, and he did that. I thought he played very respectable this past week, Monday night.”

Melvin Ingram in

There had been a question earlier in the week as to whether defensive end Melvin Ingram would make his debut against the Packers. The answer is yes, according to Reid.

“He’ll be up and we’ll have a few plays for him,” confirmed the head coach. “He’s looked good. He’s done a nice job.”

The Chiefs traded a conditional sixth-round NFL Draft pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Ingram hours before the league’s 2021 deadline. The defensive end, who had a sack and 11 pressures in six games for the Steelers, will wear No. 24 for the Chiefs.
