The Steelers certainly look like they play better in their all-black uniforms

The Pittsburgh Steelers will roll out their ‘Color Rush’ uniforms for the first time this season and eighth time in its history. The super popular combination has seen some very successful results with the Steelers holding a 6-1 record and a 196-120 point differential. The only blemish on that record came from a Duck Hodges start in 2019 in which the Steelers still had a great chance to tie it up at the end of regulation. Aside from that one smudge the Steelers typically control Color Rush games from wire to wire. Even tight games against the Patriots and the second Ravens matchup saw the Steelers lead the game the entire day.

Maybe it’s the old philosophy of ‘if you look good you feel good, and if you feel good you play good’ at work. As the Steelers always play with a different level of energy when they play these games. Color Rush games typically sees a fast start on either offense or defense, and players putting in maximum effort on every snap. You can see the energy through your television screens, you can also tell the players are excited throughout the entire week of preparing for the Color Rush jerseys. At this point it can’t be coincidence as to why they are excited. Just checkout the history of the Steelers in Color Rush games below:

December 25, 2016 – 31-27 Victory over the Baltimore Ravens
November 16, 2017 – 40-17 Victory over the Tennessee Titans
November 8, 2018 – 52-21 Victory over the Carolina Panthers
December 16, 2018 – 17-10 Victory over the New England Patriots
October 28, 2019 – 27-14 Victory over the Miami Dolphins
December 15, 2019 – 17-10 Defeat to the Buffalo Bills
December 2, 2020 – 19-14 Victory over the Baltimore Ravens

If the Steelers can knock off the Bears on Sunday their winning percentage in Color Rush uniforms would push to .875. The likelihood of the Steelers wearing the uniform would also likely increase for a late season matchup that the Steelers would need to win, much like in 2018 and 2019. I would bet that game would be in Week 17 on Sunday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns in what could possibly be a divisional championship type of game. But for the Steelers if that is the position they find themselves in they can rest well knowing they can pull out their Color Rush uniforms.

But what do you think? Do you think the Steelers play better when they wear the Color Rush jerseys? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
