The Atlanta Falcons haven’t given their fans much to cheer about since opening Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2017, but the crowd got pretty loud during Sunday’s season-opening win over the Carolina Panthers.

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith definitely noticed, commenting on the impact of the crowd while talking to reporters on Monday.

“The crowd was unbelievable yesterday and they did have an effect, especially in the second half,” said Smith.

If the Falcons keep winning, the fans will finally make Mercedes-Benz Stadium the kind of home-field advantage it was intended to be when it was unveiled.

Atlanta will host the Green Bay Packers (1-0) in Week 2 as the team faces off with another inexperienced signal-caller. However, Packers QB Jordan Love fared better than Bryce Young in Week 1, throwing three touchdowns in a win over the Bears.
