The Atlanta Falcons released running back Godwin Igwebuike from their 53-man roster on Monday, per team reporter Terrin Waack.
Igwebuike was signed from the team’s practice squad ahead of Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, which made sense once the team listed Cordarrelle Patterson as inactive for Week 1.

While Igwebuike was active, he did not receive a single carry in Week 1. During the preseason, Igwebuike rushed 31 times for 135 rushing yards and a touchdown.
There’s a chance he returns to the practice squad since the Falcons still have an opening. Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster and practice squad heading into Week 2.
