In Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season, the Falcons took on the Buccaneers while the Saints traveled to Carolina to play the Panthers. Let’s see how the NFC South stacks up after two weeks of football.

Falcons vs. Buccaneers

1st Q 2nd Q 3rd Q 4th Q Final
Falcons 0 10 15 0 25
Buccaneers 7 14 7 20 48

Panthers vs. Saints

1st Q 2nd Q 3rd Q 4th Q Final
Saints 0 0 0 7 7
Panthers 7 10 0 9 26

Atlanta remains the only winless NFC South team in 2021. The Panthers did everything they could to silence the Saints and reassure people that Jameis Winston’s stellar play in  Week 1 was just a blip.

On the day, Winston went 11 for 22 and just 111 yards. He also earned an atrocious passer rating of 26.9 as he threw two interceptions on the afternoon. The Saints couldn’t get anything going on the ground as Winston was the leading rusher with 19 yards. Alvin Kamara, Deonte Harris, and Tony Jones Jr all combined for 13 yards on the ground. Kamara amassed 25 yards on four catches, and Jordan Humphrey had a team-high 27 yards.

Sam Darnold on the other hand had himself a day against the Saints’ defense. The former Jets QB went for 305 yards, completing 26 of his 38 passes with two touchdowns and one interception. Christian McCaffrey also continued his dominant resurgence as a running back and receiver, plus D.J. Moore ended his outing with 79 yards on eight receptions.

NFC South Standings

  1. (2-0) Buccaneers ( +1 )
  2. (2-0) Panthers ( +1 )
  3. (1-1) Saints ( -2 )
  4. (0-2) Falcons ( -/+ )
