Training camp is always an exciting time for football fans as their favorite team returns to the practice field ahead of the start of the regular season. It’s a fresh start, where everyone is undefeated and hopes and expectations are somewhat lofty at the offset.

But for Bears fans, this training camp is different than those in recent history with an excitement that they’ve been riding since late April when Chicago traded up to draft their hopeful franchise quarterback in Justin Fields.

For the lucky Bears fans that managed to land a ticket for one of the practices at Halas Hall this summer, it’ll be the first time they get to glimpse Fields, the man who the franchise is banking on rewriting the poor quarterback narrative that has haunted this team for decades. And if you can’t be there in person, rest assured Bears Wire will keep you updated on everything Fields and beyond.

There are plenty of questions surrounding this team heading into the 2021 season, especially with the concerns at cornerback and a wide-open position battle at wide receiver. But the excitement about the future of this team with Fields has Bears fans thinking ahead.

While expectations for the season are relatively reasonable — with many aware Chicago won’t be contending for a Super Bowl this year — Bears fans are looking at the long game and the impact that Fields can ultimately have on this franchise.

And while fans have been teased mercilessly by others — mostly Packers fans — it’s okay to be excited about Fields, especially given most Bears fans haven’t had a true star quarterback in their lifetime.

As the Bears report to training camp today — with the first practice scheduled for Wednesday morning — there’s a different vibe surrounding this franchise. Finally, there’s optimism at the quarterback position and hope for what this franchise can achieve in the future.

That, and football is back! Let’s enjoy it, Bears fans.
