Bears 2023 rookie review: RT Darnell Wright

The Chicago Bears saw significant contributions from rookies on offense and defense during the 2023 season, whether it was from draft picks or undrafted free agents.

The Bears traded back from spot from No. 9 and landed their top offensive tackle in Tennessee’s Darnell Wright with the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. While Chicago has recently struggled drafting tackles in the first round, Wright looks like he might’ve finally broken the curse.

Wright made an immediate impact as a rookie, helping to shore up what had been among the league’s worst pass blocking offensive lines. Wright faced some of the top edge rushers in the NFL and held his own. He wasn’t without his rookie struggles, but Wright certainly looked the part of a franchise right tackle in just his first season.
