The Chicago Bears have agreed to a two-year deal with former Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The 29-year-old defensive back joins a secondary that has already been bolstered by the addition of former All-Pro Kevin Byard.

Owens spent the 2023 season in Green Bay and started 11 games. He totaled 84 tackles (two for a loss), one sack, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups. Prior to his stint as a Packer, Owens began his career as an undrafted free agent, catching on with the Houston Texans, where he became a starting safety. Off the field, Owens has gained notoriety for his relationship with Olympic great Simone Biles.

He will likely play a role as a reserve defensive back, splitting time with Byard and Jaquan Brisker as their primary backup, while contributing to special teams.
