Bears among teams that voted against flex scheduling for Thursday Night Football

Thursday Night Football flex scheduling is something that’s been a hot topic of conversation over the past couple of months. That means Amazon would be able to flex a Sunday afternoon game into the Thursday night slot during Weeks 14-17.

While it’s easy to see why the league and owners would be for the move — as it would equate to more revenue and higher viewership — it’s not fair to the fans who plan to attend these games, especially when it comes to changing travel plans at just 15 days notice.

According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the vote in last week’s NFL owners meetings was 22-8 in favor of Thursday Night Football flex scheduling. A total of 24 votes is needed for it to pass.

There were eight teams that voted against it while two others — Panthers and Broncos — abstained. According to King, the Bears were one of the eight teams that voted against flex-scheduling for Thursday Night Football.

Other teams that voted against it included the Giants, Jets, Saints and Packers.

Now, the league will revisit the topic during their next meeting in May.
