There’s been a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the Bears when it comes to the offensive line, especially on the injury front. But Chicago finally got some good news as all signs are pointing to starting right tackle Germain Ifedi returning to practice on Monday.

Ifedi, who has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list with a hip flexor, will practice for the first time in training camp.

According to NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge, Ifedi is scheduled to meet with the media today, which indicates he’ll be at practice.

With the return of Ifedi — and the addition of Jason Peters, who is the likely starting left tackle — the Bears will likely have their starting offensive line for the 2021 season in tact for the first time in training camp.

The Bears later confirmed the move:

This news comes on the heels of second-round rookie Teven Jenkins undergoing back surgery, which will hold him out indefinitely. Chicago signed Peters to compete for the starting left tackle job, where he’ll be competing with fifth-round rookie Larry Borom, who held up nicely at left tackle with the second-team offense last Saturday against the Bills.

The tackle position has been a huge area of concern for the Bears throughout training camp, so getting a veteran like Ifedi back in the mix is good news when it feel like there’s been nothing but bad news on the offensive line front.
