Following the release of two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Kyle Fuller earlier this offseason, the Bears have a starting outside cornerback spot up for grabs opposite second-year player Jaylon Johnson.

The competition at cornerback is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing battles at training camp, where a slew of players will be battling for the starting job opposite Johnson. One of those players is second-year pro Kindle Vildor, who has made his presence known this offseason.

While the Bears don’t report to training camp for a few more weeks, Vildor continues to put the work in ahead of the most important competition of his young career. Check out video of Vildor getting some work in defending this receiver.

“This boy patience & technique is crazy,” routeking_1 captioned on Instagram.

Vildor was among the most impressive players during Chicago’s offseason program, where he’s becoming more confident and vocal as a player. He had a two-interception practice and impressed during red-zone drills at minicamp.

“He’s definitely flashing,” Matt Nagy said during minicamp. “Every play you get, every rep you get, you get a little bit more experience, a little bit more confidence and you can play faster. The stuff that goes on on the offensive side of the ball slows down for you and your reactionary skills are better. And what I think you see is you start seeing a lot more of what we saw on tape at Georgia Southern.

“He’s becoming more vocal, too. These rookies come in last year and they don’t meet a lot of guys and they’re coming in and he came in backing up some guys. Now, he’s a little bit more vocal, and you’re seeing him let his personality show. That’s a big plus for us.”

Vildor will have to beat out the likes of veterans Desmond Trufant and Artie Burns for the job. But if he performs in training camp like he did in minicamp, he has a great chance to lock down the job.
