The Chicago Bears are moving on from former second-round wide receiver Anthony Miller, as they’re trading him to the Houston Texans in exchange for swapping late-round 2022 draft picks.

According to Field Yates, the Bears are trading Miller and a 2022 seventh-round pick to the Texans in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick.

With Miller’s trade, Chicago will free up an additional $1.2 million in cap space and take on $500,000 in dead money. The Bears have around $6 million in cap space after the trade, according to Spotrac.

News of the trade was first reported Saturday night. It didn’t as too much of a surprise given the Bears had been looking to trade Miller this offseason. While he showed signs of potential in his first three seasons — including an impressive rookie year — his lack of consistency was the issue. His ejection for throwing a punch at Saints safety C.J. Garnder-Johnson in the wild-card game seemed to seal the deal.

While Pace hasn’t had as much success in the earlier rounds of the NFL draft, he’s found some studs, particularly in the fifth round with receiver Darnell Mooney, defensive tackle Bilal Nichols, safety Adrian Amos and running back Jordan Howard.

Perhaps this 2022 fifth-round pick will be another late-round gem for the Bears.
