The Chicago Bears lost both their starting safeties in the span of a few minutes. Late in the first quarter, Jaquan Brisker exited the game with an undisclosed injury, and a few plays later, Eddie Jackson limped off the field with his own ailment. Brisker walked to the locker room, and Jackson was carted there.

According to the Bears, Brisker is dealing with an illness, while Jackson has a foot injury. Jackson has been ruled out while Brisker remains questionable to return.

With both safeties out, the Bears are relying on Elijah Hicks and Quindell Johnson to step in for the time being. The defense was able to hold Tampa to a field goal attempt that was blocked, but didn’t fare as well on the next drive. Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield found Mike Evans for a long catch and run, which set up a rushing touchdown from Rachaad White.

Tampa Bay leads Chicago 10-7 in the second quarter.
